The way some of Trump’s faithful are defending Trump, and they way they are now lambasting me only proves my point. You would think Trump really was their savior. I’m not here to “persecute” anyone for supporting Trump, it just makes me mad that we can vilify people we don’t like such as Barak Obama using Scripture while giving Trump the grace card, offering forgiveness and lavishing him with praise like he was Jesus Christ. Most evangelicals showed little of this grace to Obama. This is very telling of the state of Christianity in our nation. We want be winsome only to people we like, while demonizing those we disagree with because we are looking at others through the lens of partisan politics rather than through the Gospel. Christ didn’t die just for you and your tribe alone.
And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. 2 Cor 5:15-16 (emphasis added)
