It makes sense. We have a leader in the White House who has possibly deceived “even the elect, if that were possible”. While Trump claims to be a Christian, there is really no evidence of this other than the people that he surrounds himself with. In fact, there is evidence to the contrary just based on statements he has made. Since he is portraying himself as Christ though blasphemous images, it may be worth asking: Does he bear any resemblance to the Antichrist as depicted in the wildly popular Left Behind Series? Or even the Antichrist as we find him in Scripture? Ironically, the church has been engaged in much end times speculation of late and Jesus’ return in the clouds is imminent according to some. Perhaps it is imminent, and the Antichrist has been sitting under their noses this whole time.
Similarities to the Antichrist
- Modern Communication: In the Left Behind Series, the Antichrist is a master of global communication. Just as Trump’s ability to dominate the news cycle is a modern fulfillment of this omnipresent communication style, Trump is also able to bypass traditional media through his use of social media. His voice seems to drown out all others.
- Charisma and the “Mouth speaking great things” – Scripture describes the Antichrist as having a “mouth speaking great things” (Dan 7:8) and being an arrogant boaster (Rev 13:5). Remind you of anyone?
- The wound that was healed: A pivotal moment in Rev 13 and the Left Behind series is when the Beast survives a “fatal head wound” which leads to worldwide wonder and worship. Was the assassination attempt on Trump a direct fulfillment of this prophecy?
- Deception of the “Elect”: “For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” Mat 24:24. Has Donald Trump deceived the elect, his “Christian” supporters and the Christian leaders he has surrounded himself with?
- Peacemaker: In Left Behind, the Antichrist rises to power not through war but through flattery and by brokering a 7 year peace treaty with Israel. This harkens back to Trump’s focus on making deals such as the Abraham Accords. End-times literature suggests the Antichrist will appear as a “prince of peace” who uses economic and diplomatic deals to consolidate power before showing his true nature.

This is Christian Nationalism,
NOT Christianity!
