A president was once put through near hell because the Christian community decided he was the Antichrist. It seemed many in the pulpit had decided he was the Antichrist, and that gained traction among many evangelicals. Well, guess what? Turns out that the President, Barak Obama wasn’t the Antichrist after all. No apologies, no repenting, not a word of regret from Christians. It’s quite a serious allegation to make. Flash-forward to today and you have a President who posts very disturbing, blasphemous images of himself as Christ. I’ve only ever heard of one world leader who makes these claims, and that individual is what the Scriptures call the Antichrist. But of course many evangelicals dismiss this. Get me straight here, I have never called anyone the Antichrist–Trump or anyone else. I’m just asking relevant questions as a Christian. Are we not called to “test the spirits”?
If our witness is to remain credible in a skeptical world, our standards for truth must be applied consistently, regardless of political affiliation. We are called to be seekers of the Truth, not just followers of a party line.
