Filipinos are pissed: War may be at war sooner than 2027

War may come to America not in 2027 because of Taiwan, but in 2024 because of the Philippines. Unlike our ambiguous treaty with Taiwan, we have a mutual defense treaty with the Philippines which means we are bound to intervene if shooting breaks out in the South China sea. The situation is made even more precarious since Filipinos are pissed right now and want to retaliate for attacks from Chinese vessels. This could easily escalate into a shooting war and bring U.S. forces into direct conflict with China. The problem, according to this article, is that the U.S. is not ready for war.
