I’m not entirely sure who will run for the GOP nomination in 2028, but four names stand out to me: Marco Rubio, J.D. Vance, Ted Cruz, and Ron DeSantis. I think any one of them would make a great president and would be excellent for America, so I don’t really have a single favorite.

In my view, the real goal is simply ensuring one of these candidates wins the general election, regardless of which one gets the nomination. Given the country’s current mood, that’s the race that truly matters. Since the goal is just to get one of these guys to the White House, I’d happily throw my support behind any of them, or all of them, if they choose to run. Not that what I want matters, because I have no clue. Politics and power dynamics make me a bit uneasy anyway—the decisions made at that level carry far too many consequences.

When it comes to me, there are two things I don’t trust myself with: guns and power. If you give me one of these things, I’ll surely do something crazy. Too many people shouldn’t be trusted with these things, because most people are ignorant of what they are capable of. The truth is we are all just as susceptible to becoming a Hitler or an Osama Bin Laden because we all have this sin nature. In theological terms, its called “total depravity” meaning every part of our being has been corrupted by sin. That brings me to the ultimate political question: who can actually be trusted with such immense power? If anyone belongs at the helm, it’s Christians who answer to a higher moral law—not the unpredictable whims of fickle people.
