Leaving Las Vegas
I think I’m going to try to move to Oklahoma, Wyoming, or somewhere else where there is no pre-settlement funding cap like Nevada’s crazy $500,000 cap on lawsuit funding. This will probably upset the plaintiffs since it means I can wait for more desirable settlements, or if a case goes to trial, I can wait for the appeals process to play out if needed. Everyone is counting on me to rush into undesirable settlements because of all the pressure I’ll be under during this time. And it isn’t too cool for the media, specifically 60 Minutes, to publish a story on capping pre-settlement funding. I’m pretty sure that if people try to keep me from getting this funding, it’s a violation of my civil rights. It is very inappropriate for my plaintiffs to engage in this behavior. Pre-settlement funding caps really hurt plaintiffs and just favor big corporate interests. I’m not trying to be stingy here. At this point, I really only want to take some defamation cases to trial. Am I wrong for exercising my right to seek justice here? I guess it’s more acceptable to try to take advantage of me and this situation. I have nothing to gain in this lawsuit anyway. All of it will go out to all the plaintiffs, not me. I just want to have an option if I really need it. Sorry for loving the Constitution and for expecting to have the same rights everyone else has.
