Christianity & Capitalism vs Marxism

Everyone looks at all the negative aspects of capitalism if you can call them that, but capitalism is what brings prosperity to societies. While Marxism offers a grand vision of the world that its proponents think is attainable, it has never worked in the real world. The exception might be China, but if China hadn’t “opened up” under Deng Xiaoping and adopted some form of capitalism, they would not have gotten this far. Deng Xiaoping even said “Let some people get rich first” implying that socialism can come later. He knew that capitalism is how wealth is generated. In the U.S., socialists generally want to achieve their goals through wealth distribution. The idea of wealth redistribution may sound good, but too much of it and it will ruin an economy. After all, if you eliminate capitalism or severely handicap it, you end up no wealth to redistribute. But capitalism is subject to some side effects. There is the temptation for greed, and idolatry. That’s why Christianity should accompany capitalism. Christianity tempers those urges, and redirects our attention to our true provider: God.
